MAIN QUAY OF SAIPEM MARINE BASE & SUBSEA FABRICATION YARD Guarujà, San Paolo, Brazil

The project concerns the detailed design of the Main Quay of Marine Base & Subsea Fabrication Yard, in Guarujá, Brazil. The project consists in the construction of the retaining and foundation structures and of the superstructure of the deck of the main quay.

Piacentini Ingegneri has developed the final design.
The main quay is 336.6m long and 35m wide with two lateral wing-walls 80m long each; the total surface area covered by the deck is approximately 13’000m2 and the dredging level is equal to -12.00m DHN.
The retaining soil structures consist of a steel sheet-pile made through the use of tubular piles of large diameter (combi-wall sheet-pile) and the other foundation structures consist of steel piles; finally the deck is completed with a concrete horizontal superstructure.
Foundation structures, on the seaside, are made up of:
a 15° raked towards sea front combi-wall Ø1219
a 15° raked towards water steel pile Ø914.4
Foundation structures, on the yard side, are made up of:
a vertical steel pile Ø812.8
All these structures are rigidly connected by a concrete slab of variable thickness.
